Deadly sword technique - Dee Thomson of Tribal Blossoms Bellydance (Brisbane)
Level: Open
Tribal Blossoms Director Dee Thomson has been studying sword dance since 2002, long before Tribal came to inspire her life – in this workshop you’ll learn valuable sword technique to bring strong & deadly sword dance to your dance routine. The workshop will cater to those who are seeking a technique focus, and also those who’d like to take home a choreography in their back pocket. Dee will discuss sword handling & care, and methods to incorporate Sword as your new dance partner, and ways to approach this within the Tribal aesthetic.
The second half of the workshop will also deliver a short choreography for students to master their sword dance.
No prior Sword dance experience is needed, however an understanding of both ATS & GC bellydance will aid the attendee.
If you’d like to prepare for the choreography please email Dee for a list of movements which will be incorporated within the dance. Swords are available to hire if you don’t have a sword – please confirm prior to ensure one is available for you.
Dee Thomson is the director of Tribal Blossoms Bellydance – providing tribal tuition & performance in Brisbane. Classes deliver technique in both ATS & Gypsy Caravan formats, with influences from Sue Erokan’s Romani-Clandestine tribes. Classes are particularly formatted to delivery of cues within the dance, to encourage movement within an improvised format.
